May is Mental Health Awareness Month #4Mind4Body (http://www.mentalhealthamerica.net/may ) There is growing evidence to suggest that exposure to natural environments can be associated with mental health benefits. In our efforts to promote the link between nature and mental health 3 Rivers Outdoor Co. and Friends of the Riverfront have partnered with Lolo Schaffer a local meditation guide to lead a walking meditation for us. This 1.5 hour group class will include a led introduction to forest bathing along the Three Rivers Heritage trail departing from the River Front Park in Millvale at 7pm and return the park pavilion and grassy area for a seated meditation portion. Class is donation based, give what you can.
About Friends of the Riverfront
Friends of the Riverfront (FOR) is responsible for the development and stewardship of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, an urban rail-trail for 24 miles along the riverfronts of Allegheny County, and its continued expansion along the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio River corridors. Since 1991 FOR has been working to protect and restore the region’s priceless riverfronts. FOR is a pioneering nonprofit organization that has been involved in creating nearly all of the trails along Pittsburgh’s rivers. Through intense collaboration with community partners, government officials, philanthropic supporters, and diverse volunteer base, FOR works to transform Pittsburgh’s riverfront into a healthy ecosystem for all to enjoy.
About Lolo Schaffer: As a meditation practitioner of over 20 years, I lead Guided Meditation classes, private sessions, workshops, seminars, and motivational speaking events. I lead others in Guided Meditation using Color Imagery, Mindfulness Meditation, Intuitive Meditation, Tapping Meditation, Children’s Meditation, Chakra Meditation, Animal Meditation and Healing Meditation. I have practiced in many traditions and blend the methods of many healing modalities within my meditation guidance for groups or private sessions. I offer nutrition counseling based on the practices of the Ketogenic, Paleo, and Primal methods, educating clients in foods that heal their ailments, specifically autoimmune diseases. I train clients in intuitive based movements based in natural environment settings, as well as urban and indoor settings.
