Michaux State Forest - great trails, great camping, great memories

Osprey Poco Child Carrier. Great pack and allows me to take my little buddy everywhere. (Previous favorite gear - Nittany Mountain Works Hip Pack - well built, holds lots of gear, and tough. Goes on all bikes rides, long trail runs)

Small business that wants to get people outside having fun

Where are you from?
I group up just down the road from the shop in Turtle Creek, and spent my highschool years hanging out in Regent Square with friends.

I am a percussionist

Whitewater Kayaking, Backpacking, Family Adventuring, Mountain Biking

What is your favorite piece of outdoor gear?
My Rab Kinetic rain coat, a good rain coat serves many adventures and saves many adventures from becoming the worst of trips because no one wants to be wet or wet and cold. Second best is our families Osprey Poco pack, getting our toddler daughter out on the trail has been doable because of the Poco.

How long have you worked at 3ROC?
Been working at 3ROC since the very beginning. 3ROC opened in 2018 but began as a vision from a ski trip to Montana in 2013.

Favorite thing about working at 3ROC?
Seeing people find their people or their community. I love seeing the regulars at run club, or the weekly firepit and knowing they show up week after week because they found their place and their connections with close friends through some of the trips or events we have organized. The best was when one of our long-time customers met his wife at the weekly Tuesday runs and they had their engagement photos at the shop.

Favorite thing about working at 3ROC?
The community around the shop and helping find folks the perfect piece of gear and then hearing the stories about an amazing adventure with that gear!

Where are you from?
Grew up in a small town in central Texas, moved to the Pittsburgh area immediately after graduating high school.  I've lived in a few areas of Pittsburgh and the Laurel Highlands.

What are your favorite hobbies?
Taking my dog stand up paddleboarding, whitewater stand up paddleboarding, whitewater kayaking, mountain biking with my dog.  Snowboarding, XC Skiing.

What is your favorite outdoor spot?
Slippery Rock Creek within McConnells Mill State Park and some special locations within Forbes State Forest

What is your favorite piece of gear?
My Gore-tex rain shell jacket!  Protects from the elements no matter the season or activity, adjusting the layers beneath as needed. The shell serves as my year around rain jacket, my alpine ski jacket, and useful when I am paddling to maintain my body temperature when I am on shore eating a snack and a drink of water or loading my kayak or paddle board on the roof.  It's all about maintaining the stoke level out there!

For about two weeks and counting, excited for the future.

The feeling of community, opportunity to share the knowledge and experiences I've gained through adventure and work.
