Telemark Ski Info Session w/ the Appalachian Telemark Association (ATA)

Are you curious about the sport of telemark skiing? Telemark skiers ski downhill while executing a unique ‘free heel’ turn using bindings in which only the front of the foot is fixed to the ski.

Telemark skiing

Join members of the Appalachian Telemark Association (ATA) for an informational evening event at 3 Rivers Outdoor Co. on Friday, October 27th. Pizza will be provided!

Telemark ski instructors from ATA will be on hand to share photos and videos, pass around some state-of-the-art telemark boots and skis and answer any questions you might have. ATA is a club dedicated to promoting the art of telemark skiing. The club offers loaner gear to members and holds weekly and monthly workshops on telemark ski technique, usually at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. In addition to periodic telemark skiing instruction, ATA hosts a yearly two-day telemark festival at Seven Springs called Telepalooza. This season, Telepalooza will be held January 6 and 7th, 2024 and will feature Professional Ski Instructors of America National Demo Team members Jim Shaw and Keith Rodney as well as several Eastern education staff members.  Membership to join the club is only $40 and gives you a discount to Telepalooza, access to the loaner equipment during the entire ski season, and free participation in our weekly and monthly clinics.

If you are a non-skier or beginner, ATA can help you get started skiing telemark from the start. If you’re already an expert alpine skier, ATA can get you on telemark gear and you will suddenly find that those blues and blacks at Seven Springs are quite challenging (and fun!) for you again.
