The Bucktail Path (BP) is a very remote and somewhat secret backpacking route that experienced and prepared hikers will enjoy. This end-to-end path leads through Elk State Forest, Cameron County, for 33.5 miles. This area is well known for its steep mountains, but the Bucktail Path follows many old railroad grades to climb and descend the mountains with relative ease. A hiker who enjoys a moderate amount of bushwhacking and navigating through the PA Wilds will love the Bucktail Path.
