Kathleen Ganster and Paul Sauers will share their experiences with you. Each has done the challenge several times and have been involved with the Rachel Carson Trails Conversancy (RCTC) in numerous capacities including the Planning & Promotion Committee and the Board of Directors.
This year the Full Challenge runs from Harrison Hills Park to North Park and is about 37 miles in length. The Homestead Challenge runs from Springdale to North Park and is about 19 miles in length.
You will learn about the gear ( shoes, socks, trekking poles, pants, shirts, hats, etc. ) and snacks ( GORP, gels, bars, etc.) and hydration techniques (water, Gatorade, tablets) that can help you achieve your goals. You will also learn about recommended training protocols and the organized training hikes sponsored by the organization.
Questions are always welcomed during and after the talk !
Contact Paul Sauers at SauersP@aol.com if you have any questions.
