USDA Plans to Rescind the Roadless Rule, Pennsylvania's Allegheny National Forest Public Lands at Risk

If you've ever hiked the North Country National Scenic Trail or boated on Kinzua Lake; hiked Minister Creek or Tracy Ridge at the Allegheny National Forest, then...

Please read on, education yourself, and provide public feedback by September 19 (on however you feel about this complex topic)

For nearly 25 years, the Roadless Area Conservation Rule has prevented road building, strip-mining and commercial logging on over 58 million acres of public lands—keeping 30% of our national forests safe for wildlife, clean water and recreation. Now, the US Department of Agriculture is attempting to rescind the wildly popular provision.

Allegheny Outfitter is the local shop and outfitter in Warren, PA outside the forest and did a fantastic write-up on the topic and their has captured the opinions of many of the locals who share a broad range of views on the topic (for/against).

Locally, here is NPR and WPSU's article and The Outdoor Alliance has also written an article on the topic.

Link for public input and information direct from the USDA.

Comment may also be submitted through Patagonia or Backcountry Hunters and Anglers with more information supporting the Roadless Area Conservation Rule.

Congressman Glenn "GT" Thompson, whose 15th district includes the Allegheny forest, supports rescinding the Roadless Area Conservation Rule.
