"How to Hike and Not Die" - Book Reading and Entertaining Anecdotes by the Author

This November around the campfire at our First Friday S’mores night we will have local author Penny Allenwood as our guest. Her book, an entertaining how-to on outdoor safety, "How to Hike and NOT Die" provides the basic information all new hikers need to know to be safe in the woods. Through anecdotes and real-world experiences, you will learn how to identify and prepare for hazards before you step on the trail."

Penny Allenwood is an avid hiker and volunteer with both the Boy Scouts of America and Girls Scouts of America. She is currently working on hiking all of the North Country Trail in Pennsylvania, and has completed the North Country Trail Hike 100 Challenge and PA Hike 50 Challenge each year since their inception. She is a certified hiking guide through the American Hiking Guide Association, and owner of Penny Allenwood Outdoors, LLC, an outdoor education and recreation company that focuses on teaching the fundamentals of outdoor safety. She and her husband Wayne reside in western Pennsylvania.
